Although the Southern border has been struggling since Joe Biden entered the White House almost two years ago, the administration and Democrats simply ignored it. At one time, Kamala Harris was put in charge of addressing the border, but due to her dismal performance, she only recently made headlines for saying the area was secure. That came around the same time Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decided to send around 50 migrants to the lavish area of Martha’s Vineyard. Now, with some Democrats claiming the Republican kidnapped the migrants and should have criminal charges brought against him, DeSantis mocked them by admitting they only care about migrants when it doesn’t affect them.

Speaking at an event for Turning Point Action, which can be watched below, Governor Ron DeSantis stated, “One of the biggest failures of the rule of law is happening right now at the southern border of the United States. And until last week, no one was really talking much about it. Now. People are concerned about it. We have a crisis on the border. We’ve had millions of people come across illegally since Biden has been President. Did you see any spasms from the media because there were all these illegals coming across the border for the last almost two years – No, you didn’t hear anything. Did you hear when you had migrants dying in the Rio Grande River or 53 migrants dying in a trailer in Texas? No, I didn’t hear very much at all about it.”

With the crowd exploding in cheers and applause as the Republican pointed out the glaringly obvious, DeSantis added, “Do you ever hear anything about when you have a record number of fentanyl deaths because of the fentanyl that is pouring across the border? Do you ever hear the gnashing of teeth over that? I don’t. It’s only when 50 illegal aliens show up at a very wealthy spot called Martha’s Vineyard that advertises itself as a sanctuary city.”

Ron DeSantis went on to explain exactly what the Democrats want. “They’re basically doing it [virtue signaling] so that they feel good, but they don’t want to actually have to deal with the consequences of the policies that they advocate for all of you. They want open borders. They want you to deal with the open borders, but they want to be immune from the consequences of these policies.”

While DeSantis addresses the issue, Democrats like Governor Gavin Newsom decided to make the moment about him, asking the Republican to debate. He tweeted on Friday, “Hey @GovRonDeSantis, clearly you’re struggling, distracted, and busy playing politics with people’s lives. Since you have only one overriding need — attention –let’s take this up & debate. I’ll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray. Name the time before Election Day.” He was sure to tag CNN as well.
