A report from The Mercury News claimed that a law enforcement source familiar with the case described the double homicide as being carried out in an “execution-style manner.”

Officials say six people were inside of the home when the gunfire broke out at roughly 12:45 a.m., with one of the surviving individuals being identified as an out-of-town relative to the decedents who served as a key witness in the slayings.

Williams reportedly fled the scene in a Volkswagen, with Highway Patrol officers taking the suspect into custody near the city of Coalinga, roughly 160 miles away from the original crime scene, at approximately 11:30 a.m. after Williams surrendered.

The suspect’s surrender came after having a near-hour-long phone conversation with Dublin Police Chief Garrett Holmes, who’d urged Williams to surrender peacefully.

Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman Lieutenant Ray Kelly noted that Williams had worked as a deputy within the courthouse division of the sheriff’s office for about a year, with his last shift – which was an overtime shift at the county jail – ending less than two hours before the double homicide occurred.

Investigators have yet to go into specific detail as to what may have led up to the two victims being killed, with Lieutenant Kelly simply stating that “some significant things” had occurred in Williams’ life recently that could’ve triggered some kind of an “emotional crisis.”

In reference to the vague aspects mentioned that may have caused Williams to suffer an emotional crisis, Lieutenant Kelly further added, “A lot of those events went undiscovered and undisclosed, and we’re going to be looking into that. There’s a lot of questions that need to be answered.”

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office spokesman confirmed that there is some sort of “connectivity” between Williams and the two victims, which the two victims have yet to be publicly identified by officials as of this writing.
