The Associated Press officially declared Kari Lake the winner in the Republican primary for Arizona governor, with the Republican gubernatorial hopeful joining Steve Bannon after the news broke regarding her victory in the primary.

Lake’s victory in the primary was announced on the evening of August 4th, with the Associated Press calling her win “a blow to the GOP establishment that lined up behind lawyer and businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson.”

Bannon brought up Lake’s main opponent in the primary, Karrin Taylor Robson, and her enormous financial backing, asking the Republican nominee what her success in this race reveals.

“Let’s talk about that, $30,000,000 – I think your opponent spent eighteen or twenty of her own money, I’ve heard outside groups for another eight or ten – $30,000,000 and really nothing about policy or issues. All the politics of personal destruction. You were able from the deplorables and from the Trump movement and MAGA – three-and-a-half million dollars, you’re outspent ten to one – all the politics of personal destruction. What would you like to say to the mainstream media about how you’ve come through that and what you’ve learned about the people of Arizona and yourself?”

Lake said that if there was one solid takeaway from her primary victory it was that elections can no longer be outright bought by big-money backed candidates.

“What I’ve learned is that A: you can buy an election anymore because too many people are awake, they know what’s going on. And we are going to be leading Arizona into its best days ahead, and we don’t care if the media is attacking us because they’re not watching them, Steve. I mean, I got here – I got to this moment with the help of the people and with the help of alternative media like Steve Bannon and the War Room. Fox didn’t have me on, they finally had me on in the last month of this and it was for a hit piece.”

According to the vote tally from the Arizona primary, Lake managed to win every single county in the state, with a near 20,000 vote lead against Robson.

Bannon emphasized just how stacked the deck was against Lake in the primary race, highlighting that even the mainstream media in her own state wouldn’t do her the courtesy of lending any kind of favorable or even unbiased coverage.

“This is what you have to walk people through, with literally almost no money, no media – because people don’t understand the mainstream media in Phoenix and in Arizona really wouldn’t cover you anyway unless it was a hit piece. The Republic, the really big newspaper, you submitted a couple of op-eds they wouldn’t do, correct?”

The Republican gubernatorial candidate concurred that was the case, mentioning how her opinion editorial was refused by The Arizona Republic over her use of the word “invasion” to describe the current crisis at the southern border.

“They wouldn’t take our op-ed with our amazing policy to secure the border unless we removed the word ‘invasion.’ And I said, ‘We’re not going to remove the word invasion because that’s what it is.'”
