While the future for former President Donald Trump is somewhat unsure given he has yet to announce his intentions on if he is running again, it appears that Washington, D.C. isn’t done with him yet. On Monday, coming as a complete surprise, the former President was notified that his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida was raided by the FBI. Although there are rumors as to why the raid took place, no official reason has been given. Luckily, Trump wasn’t present for the raid as he was in New York City at Trump Tower. But while Trump released his own statement, Republican Representative Paul Gosar called for the FBI to be disbanded. And he wasn’t the only one.

Shortly after the news broke that the FBI raided Trump’s residence, Representative Paul Gosar tweeted, “The FBI raid on Trump’s home tells us one thing. Failure is not an option. We must destroy the FBI. We must save America. I stand with Donald J. Trump.” He added in another tweet,  “I will support a complete dismantling and elimination of the democrat brown shirts known as the FBI. This is too much for our republic to withstand.”

Again, not the only one to call for the FBI to be disbanded, Representative Dan Bishop of North Carolina shared the same notion. “The FBI and DOJ are acting as the political enforcers of the Democrat Party. The FBI must immediately release the information used to obtain the warrant. Garland and Wray must immediately come before the House Judiciary Committee. Republicans must smash the FBI into a million pieces.”

And showing that the Republicans aren’t backing down from the raid or Democrats, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy did more than criticize the FBI and DOJ, he also stated the departments were a political tool used by the Biden administration. “The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization. When Republicans take back the house, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned. Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar.”

As for Donald Trump, in his own statement, he referred to the entire situation as comparable to Watergate. He declared, “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024. Especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”
