During a recent interview with ABC News’ “This Week,” disgraced Republican Rep. Liz Cheney claimed that former President Trump can’t be “anywhere near the Oval Office ever again,” while also alluding to the possibility that the January 6 committee may recommend criminal charges against Trump pertaining to the incident at the Capitol.
ABC News Jon Karl sat down with Rep. Cheney to discuss an amalgamation of topics regarding the exploits of the January 6 committee – from the refuted aspects of Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before Congress to what the endgame is in all these televised hearings.
Much of the interview focused on the typical ‘orange man bad’ narrative, with Rep. Cheney being overly dramatic on Trump somehow presenting a danger to the United States – so much so that she said the “single most important thing is protecting the nation from Donald Trump.”
Another of the topics covered was whether the House select committee is pushing for Biden’s Justice Department to pursue charges against the former president.
Karl asked Rep. Cheney, “You’ve been clear since really January 6th itself that he bears responsibility, have these hearings demonstrated that Donald Trump needs to be prosecuted?”
The Republican congresswoman initially responded with saying that the Justice Department will be the entity to make the ultimate call on that front.
“Ultimately, the Justice Department will decide that. I think we may well, as a committee, have a view on that. And if you just think about it from the perspective of what kind of man knows that the mob is armed and sends the mob to attack the Capitol and further incites that mob when his own vice president is under threat, when the Congress is under threat? It’s very chilling. I think certainly we will, you know, continue to present to the American people what we found.”
Karl hammered down again on whether Rep. Cheney and those among her on the committee “will or will not make a criminal referral,” with the congresswoman claiming, “We’ll make a decision as a committee about it.”
The ABC News anchor again reiterated the question, asking, “So it’s possible there will be a criminal referral?” The Wyoming Republican, who is poised to lose in the upcoming primary race in her state, finally stated, “Yes,” adding, “The Justice Department doesn’t have to wait for the committee to make a criminal referral. And there could be more than one criminal referral.”
Karl, not being oblivious to the potential fallout that could come from a Biden administration Justice Department going after a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate, presented the conundrum to Rep. Cheney, asking if it concerned her at all over what precedent would be set in said scenario.
“Are you worried about what that means for the country, to see a former president prosecuted, a likely candidate who may in fact be running for president against Biden, it would be Biden’s Justice Department that would be prosecuting?”
Rep. Cheney, who has fomented a flair for the dramatic in the wake of the Capitol incident, cited the infamous ‘Constitutional crisis’ narrative that has become a favored talking point of the left regarding Trump and January 6th.
“I have greater concern about what it would mean if people weren’t held accountable for what’s happened here. I think it’s a much graver constitutional threat if a president can engage in these kinds of activities and, you know, the majority of the president’s party looks away or we as a country decide, you know, we’re not actually going to take our constitutional obligations seriously.”
Right on cue, Rep. Cheney added even more dramatic embellishment, further stating, “I think there’s no question. I mean, a man as dangerous as Donald Trump can absolutely never be anywhere near the oval office ever again.”
Rep. Cheney firmly believes that if Trump secures the Republican party nomination, then it will somehow signal the death of the party, telling Karl when asked about the scenario, “It can’t survive if he’s our nominee.”

Neither than should YOU
Unless there was something other than the awful optics of such a melee I do not think that the NATION was ever in any danger what-so-ever. Much more damage was done to the USA by the multitude of deadly and destructive riots that were allowed to run free by democratic local politicians and never even discouraged by those at the federal level the whole previous year. I understand there are Americans who LOATHE President Trump. What I don’t understand is why those same folks wouldn’t just stop listening to news people who never reported much at all about the State of the Union, but would spend all day and/or their own whole program going on and on about his latest tweet and instead go to work, play, enjoy the economy, being energy independent for the first time in decades, NATO finally paying a least more and/or some of their own defense, a secure Southern border for the first time, maybe in anyone’s lifetime and accomplished with the cooperation of Mexico, not only near the lowest unemployment figures, but actually more Americans working than ever – on and on. We were bouncing straight up from the VIRUS, and in 20 or so days with the president they all loved everything was headed in a downward spiral and we’re still dropping!
