Joe Manchin did it again. He killed Democrat legislation. He’s been a more effective Republican than most Republicans.
Fox: “Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and his staff told Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D, N.Y., unequivocally Thursday that he is only willing to support a reconciliation bill in August that includes a provision to lower prescription drug prices and a two-year extension of subsidies for the Affordable Care Act, according to a Democrat briefed on the conversations.
Manchin was explicit that he won’t support a bill before the midterms with any provisions on energy and climate or closing tax loopholes exploited by the wealthy and biggest corporations, despite his support for those specific things during months of negotiations. Democrats had hoped to pass a sweeping package to tout during the midterms.”

“Political headlines are of no value to the millions of Americans struggling to afford groceries and gas as inflation soars to 9.1%,” Manchin spokesperson Sam Runyon said in a statement to press Thursday. “Senator Manchin believes it’s time for leaders to put political agendas aside, reevaluate and adjust to the economic realities the country faces to avoid taking steps that add fuel to the inflation fire.”
Manchin previously said, “I have always said, if I can’t go home and explain it, I can’t vote for it, and that’s why I opposed Build Back Better…When you have these things coming at you the way they are right now … I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation…What we need to do is get our financial house in order, but be able to pay for what we do and do what we pay for,” he said.
The left hates him for that and for his stand on pro abortion legislation. Actress Nancy Lee Grahn claimed, “How does the WHPA go too far? Make him explain what that means. He’s full of s—,” she tweeted.
In another tweet she added: “.#Manchin has already become a multi millionaire from getting paid off with Republican oil & Pharm money so he doesn’t need a job. But after ’25 he’ll NEVER sit his lying A– in our Congress again, & will go down as one of the greatest impediments to Democracy in modern history.”
Author Jared Yates Sexton called it a “problem” for Manchin to be allowed to stay in the Democratic Party. “The problem isn’t just Joe Manchin’s cruelty and disregard of the lives and fates of Americans or that he’s bought and sold several times over,” he wrote on Twitter. “It’s also that there’s room within the Democratic Party for Manchin and the many others like him.” With leftist enemies like that Joe Manchin is doing a good job for America. We should be glad he’s around.
