While former President Donald Trump continues to hold rallies all over the country, on Thursday, he announced some sad news as Ivana Trump passed away. Being 73 years old, Ivana happened to not only be his ex-wife, but also the mother of his three oldest children. With Trump, Donald Trump jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump all losing a loved one, he released a statement, sharing his sadness of the news.

In the statement, Trump said, “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”

For those who might not remember, during the 1972 Olympic games, Ivana Trump was an alternate for the Czechoslovakia team. Before marrying Trump, she went by Ivana Marie Zelnícková. Being an athletic person during her time under the communist’s rule, Ivana competed in skiing from the age of six, all the way until the Olympics. In the late 70s, she migrated to Canada, again, working for a ski instructor. Her career took a drastic turn when she landed a modeling career, leading her to meet the future POTUS. This was in 1976.

Getting married in 1977, both Trump and Ivana appeared to be in love. Celebrating five and ten years together, the couple eventually divorced in 1992, after 15 years of marriage.

Although the marriage didn’t last, apparently, they remained close friends. In recent years, both Ivana and Trump talked regularly and she also supported his campaign on Twitter.

Donald Trump remarried in 2005 to the current First Lady, Melania Trump. They have one child, Barron Trump. As for Ivana, she would go on to marry for a total of four times. Her final marriage lasted barely a year before ending in 2009.

Being more than his wife, some suggested that Ivana was the person behind Trump’s success in real-estate.
