While the mainstream media and big tech consider themselves to be the gatekeepers of truth and facts, it appears that Taylor Lorenz of the Washington Post suggested that the Babylon Bee had been investing into the Libs of TikTok account. Gaining popularity on Twitter, the Libs of TikTok has devoted itself to exposing the most extreme and outlandish people supporting the left and Democrats. Apparently, not checking their facts, Lorenz and the Washington Post was criticized by none other than the CEO of the Bee, Seth Dillon.

The entire ordeal started with Lorenz tweeted on Monday, “As I reported, The Babylon Bee, which Musk has had close ties to, invested in Libs of TikTok, allowing Chaya Raichik to grow the media company full time. She’s since launched LibsofTikTok.com, which is synched to her Substack.”

Barely a day later and Dillon responded, “Taylor, you probably should have reached out to me before reporting fake news. The Babylon Bee has never invested in anything (with the exception of the development of a third joke, currently scheduled for release in the summer of 2024). My personal investments are not Babylon Bee investments.”

The accusations from Lorenz came after Dillon suggested that the woman behind the Libs of TikTok account would not be canceled. He added, “I’ve worked out a deal with her that will turn her heroic, high-risk work into a career.” That deal was not between the Babylon Bee and the individual, but a personal matter consisting of only the account maker and Dillon.

Still, Lorenz tweeted, “I had heard that Babylon Bee had recently provided financial backing for @libsoftiktok but didn’t have enough confirmation on the details to nail it down for my story. Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee has now confirmed it.”

Having to make it clear, Dillon declared, “The Babylon Bee didn’t do a deal with her. The Bee is a satire publication. You know, like the Washington Post. I did a deal with her personally. Also, I want to thank you for amplifying the voices you try to suppress. Your promotion of @libsoftiktok today has been priceless.”
