Top issues like inflation, gas prices, the Southern border, and even gun control took a backseat over the weekend as the Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade. The historic ruling has not only received a massive amount of backlash, but key Democrats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has suggested that the ruling, which makes abortion a state issue, was all due to former President Donald Trump. It seems that the Democrats forgot that Trump hasn’t been in office for almost two years. Still, following the rhetoric that Republicans are to blame, on CNN’s “New Day”, S.E. Cupp, a political commentator, predicted the abortion topic would be the death of the GOP. 

Claiming the supposed decision made by the GOP was “aggressive bullshit”, Cupp didn’t stop there with her rant, suggesting, “It’s hard to imagine the Republican Party surviving this. “Between anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ, book banning, anti-democracy, I mean, add all of the aggressive bullshit — garbage, sorry — to this — I don’t take that back — add it all together, I don’t know who is left in future generations to be drawn to this party. If you look back at 2016, I think people voted for Trump for a wide array of reasons — some of them garbage, but some of them legitimately economic or even foreign policy. I think the people voting for more Trump, more MAGA now are really motivated by very few reasons, and so there are fewer of them.”

The commentator was sure to add, “And when you imagine that, I think for the first time … a generation will be able to say my parents had a right that I don’t have today; for the first time, a right was taken back. I can’t imagine how Republicans message to new voters and don’t just keep shrinking and condensing.”

While there have been numerous statements targeting the Republican Party, users online weren’t sold on the narrative. “Don’t mind Cuphead, she’s been a far lefty political lemming ever since her failed days over on The Blaze. Her commentary means nothing with how willing she is to be wrong just to tell a lie.”

One comment read, “This was the 127th time she’s predicted the demise of the Republican party. One of them was when Trump had 2 scoops of ice cream at a WH dinner.”
