On Tuesday, President Joe Biden held a press conference on the new approval for the COVID-19 drug for children as young as 6-months-old. With the FDA and CDC approving the drug made by Pfizer for emergency use authorization, the White House is apparently now seeking more funding to fight the virus as the President warned about a “second pandemic”. But again, the main focus from the Biden administration seemed to be about more funding.

Giving reporters a chance to speak with the President, one person asked, “Mr. President, are you accounting — I know you’re looking for more money from Congress for this vaccine campaign and for COVID funding going into the fall. How much of the supply of vaccines for these small children is there? And how many of the nation’s kids will you be able to get vaccinated before you need more money from Congress?”

President Biden answered, “We’ll get through at least this year. We do need more money. But we don’t just need more money for vaccines for children, eventually. We need more money to plan for the second pandemic. There’s going to be another pandemic. We have to think ahead. That’s not something the last outfit did very well, and that’s something that we’ve been doing fairly well. That’s why we need the money.”

Although asking for more funding, the President was sure to add in his initial remarks, “this is a very historic milestone, a monumental step forward. The United States is now the first country in the world to offer safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as six months old. In the first time in our fight against this pandemic, nearly every American can now have access to lifesaving vaccines. And we’re ready.”

Critics mocked the President, with Tosca Austen writing, “Joe Biden predicts a second pandemic, he ‘feels it,’ like the plan is bubbling and the WHO will lower the boom on us in fall. We need money. Yet Joe is slinging it about like confetti. $54.4B to stand w Ukraine, and more$ to come, and big $ for the DHS migrant travel agency…”

Another person explained, “what we need to do is take away money from the federal government and stop their wasteful spending. Force them back to the small government, minimal power they were meant to have. They think the money comes from a bottomless pit when in reality they are stealing from hard working Americans.”
