The singer Kid Rock has just left open the possibility of running for office at some point in the future.

“One day, if I ever thought – if I was bored, sitting around – really thought I could serve my county and help them out, stir things up a little bit and do what’s right, I’d have to take a hard look at it,” Kid Rock told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a recent interview.

However, he went on to clarify that he has no immediate plans to run against the Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

“No, I like my day job,” he said.

Kid Rock splits his time between Tennessee, Florida, and Michigan, where the deadline to be on the ballot was April 19. This isn’t the first time Kid Rock has publicly suggested he might run for office. Back in 2018, he considered a Senate run against Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the midterms that year.

“I believe if you work your butt off and pay taxes, you should be able to understand and navigate the laws, tax codes, health care and anything else the government puts in place that affects us all,” Kid Rock said at the time.

After ultimately deciding not to run, Kid Rock endorsed Republican candidate John James.

Kid Rock has become more open about his conservative political views over the past decade.

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues,” he told The Guardian in 2015. He added that he’s “…always buying more guns. I have everything from a Civil War cannon to an MP5 machine gun and old police guns. If someone invades your house, yeah, you can shoot them.”

On his new album “Bad Reputation,” Kid Rock has songs that rant against cancel culture, the U.S. government’s COVID-19 response, and the mainstream media.  On his tour, he even plays a video message from Donald Trump in which the former president tells the crowd to “Make America Rock Again.”

“We ended up becoming buddies,” Kid Rock said of Trump earlier this year, according to The Los Angeles Times. “Spend a lot of time [together] at the golf course now. It’s really weird to get phone calls from him and stuff. It’s kind of mind-blowing.”

Kid Rock added that spending time with Trump is “awesome. So much fun. He just knows how to have fun. Doesn’t take it too seriously. He’s engaging.”

It will certainly be interesting if Kid Rock becomes the next celebrity to try his hand at politics!
