No matter which way the Democrats look at it, the 2022 midterm elections are predicted to be a massive setback for the party. Not only that, but with the dismal performance by the Biden administration, many are already eyeing the GOP to win more than the midterms. With the Democrats struggling and the GOP gaining ground, Republicans like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have become key prospects for the upcoming Presidential election. And it appears that the Democrats are hoping to change that. How exactly? California Governor Gavin Newsom decided to spend a staggering $105,000 in television ads that will not air in his state, but Florida.

Starting July 4th, Florida residents will notice a selection of ads targeting their Republican Governor. While somewhat unusual given that Newsom faced a recall election recently and again, the Democrats are fighting to keep their position in D.C., Dave Abrams, a spokesperson for DeSantis found the idea comical. “Gavin Newsom might as well light a pile of cash on fire. Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida.”

Abrams added, “The people of Florida pay no mind to the pathetic smear campaigns from the Democrats and their allies in the corporate media. We’re too busy enjoying the freedom Governor Ron DeSantis has created in the Sunshine State.”

This hasn’t been the first targeted attack from Newsom as during a press conference following the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the Democrat criticized Republican Governor Greg Abbott. He explained that people should not “give in to the cynicism and all the crap you heard today in that press conference around evil and mental health, [which] completely belies the fact that there’s only one nation on planet Earth that separates itself from all other nations, and that’s the United States of America, in the perversion of a Second Amendment that begins around ‘well-regulated’ gun policy.”

Just last week, after the ruling from the Supreme Court on abortion, Newsom stated the Court wanted to  “strip women of their liberty and let Republican states replace it with mandated birth,” saying that the justices want to go back to a time period “when women were not treated as equal citizens under the law.”
