Bill Maher is the favorite liberal of many conservatives. He’s honest and does not refrain from calling out extremists in the Democrat Party. But even as we agree with him on much, he occasionally reminds us why he is a liberal. How? He at times signs on to weak reasoning, exaggeration, and hoaxes in the name of Democrat loyalty. Though, so many times Maher nails it. Like in this tweet on reassignment surgery for kids.
"When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God, nobody took me seriously and scheduled me for eye removal and pegleg surgery."

The most recent kerfuffle started when Elon Musk said he would be voting Republican this year. Musk opined, “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party,” Musk wrote. “But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.” He added, “Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold” with a popcorn emoji.
Maher, on his show, countered. “Elon Musk this week — I’m a big fan in many ways, but when he says, ‘Now I’m going to vote Republican,’ I’ve got to part company there. C’mon, Elon,” Maher said. “I can’t go there with him because of what I just said, because of where the big issues are, but it’s troubling to me that a guy like that who said, ‘I voted mostly Democrat for the longest time and now I’m switching.’ I mean, I’m not going to say is a stupid man… So the fact that he can be taken over by the Republicans, what does that tell you about the Democrats? What do they have to do to stop that from happening?” Good points. But then Maher ruins his credibility by saying he could never consider voting Republican “since the party doesn’t believe in the emergency of climate change or democracy.” Dear God, did he really say that?
It’s so disappointing that a guy like Maher would buy into that horse manure. “Climate emergency”? “Democracy? Where to begin…
Watermelon Bolsheviks have been pedaling one environmental hoax or another since the 70s. First it was overpopulation. Then global warming. When those didn’t work the con got downgraded to climate change. Cute term that. No matter what the change, you’re covered.
Not like the pesky prognostications of Al Gore, who said in the early years of the present century we had only a short time to act before major cities would be under water because the poles were melting. Uhhh, not quite. But his wacky predictions did not stop the Chicken Little Brigade from plying their silly messages. They still do. Maher should know better.
And democracy? Yeah, Republicans hate it. That’s why they run thousands of candidates for thousands of offices every year, while spending hundreds of millions of dollars doing it. Oh, January 6th? It was a riot, not a coup. So Maher gets it wrong, twice. But hell, he’s right on so much else he gets a pass. This time.
