Not long ago, as billionaire Elon Musk was debating buying Twitter, the Biden administration announced the new Disinformation Governance Board. Due to the threat of disinformation being spread online, the Democrats and the White House believed the best way to combat it was to create the board with Nina Jankowicz in charge. While the board was being viciously criticized by conservatives and Republicans for being just the latest attempt at a totalitarian future, in a shocking development, the board was put on “pause.” That’s right, adding to the growing list of failed initiatives, the Biden administration announced the stop less than a month after it was created.

Leaving many wanting answers for the change, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, as can be seen in the video below, presented the reason he believed the board was paused, and it had everything to do with the head of the board, Nina Jankowicz, and her bizarre attacks on the right and the truth she deemed disinformation. Carlson admitted that Jankowicz “was so embarrassing that even the Biden administration, which has an almost infinite capacity for embarrassment … even they couldn’t put up with her.”

Also speaking on Fox News, Republican Senator Tom Cotton expressed his concern about the board only being put on pause. “I’m glad to know the Orwellian Ministry of Truth is paused for the moment, but important to realize that it’s only paused because the American people found out about it. The government has no business refereeing disputes engaged in political campaigns or public debates. If you don’t like someone else’s speech, the answer is more speech.”

In the video above, he added, “I think the Democrats often believe that disinformation and misinformation are simply facts that reflect poorly on Joe Biden and the Democratic party. It’s good they finally came to their senses and paused this board, but Congress needs to act in the weeks ahead to make sure nothing like it can be created in the future.”

As for the White House, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy if it was “Paused because you think the board was mischaracterized. Then the disinformation board is being shut down because of disinformation. Is that what’s happening here?”

The new Press Secretary answered, “Look, the board was put forth for a purpose, right. To make sure that we really did address what was happening across the country when it came to disinformation. It’s — no, it’s just — it’s going to pause, there’s been a mischaracterization from outside forces, and so what we are going to pause is we are going to pause it, and we’re going to do an assessment. But the work doesn’t stop. We’re still going to continue the work. The D.H.S. is still going to continue the work.”
