After the backlash that both comedian Dave Chappelle and Netflix received after releasing several specials of his surrounding topics of transgender ideology, many believed that the streaming site would cave to the mob of liberal activists and cancel culture. While the platform stayed quiet, other than defending Chappelle, they recently updated their Culture memo, stating they would not censor artists. Netflix added, “If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

Fighting back against the censorship, many celebrities, politicians, and even billionaires have shared their opinions on the matter. Successful businessman Vivek Ramaswamy admitted, “The currents are changing.” Netflix says it stands for artistic expression and that employees who don’t want to work on content they find offensive can work somewhere else. And they reportedly fired the employee who led the trans ‘walkout protest’ earlier this year.”

Political commentator, Rita Panahi suggested, “DeSantis standing up to Disney (& the media’s) lies about Florida’s parental rights bill is having all sorts of positive consequences.”

Famously known for killing Osama bin Laden, U.S. Navy SEAL, Robert J. O’Neill also chimed in, writing, “Turns out the blue-haired screamers are wrong and capitalism is right.”

One person, who has come under fire for his stance on free speech and wanting to buy Twitter, found the move by Netflix promising. Billionaire Elon Musk simply wrote, “Good move by @netflix.”

After taking their stance, Netflix added, “Entertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view. So we offer a wide variety of TV shows and movies, some of which can be provocative. We support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with. We let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”

As for the employee who helped stage a walkout at the company, the Verge reported, “The employee was terminated on suspicion of leaking metrics to the press related to the Dave Chappelle special. Those metrics — about how much Netflix paid for The Closer and how many people it reached — subsequently ended up in a report on Bloomberg. While the employee had shared the metrics internally, they spoke out against the leaks to colleagues, worried they might hurt the walkout movement.”
