We wondered about the whole Madonna thing, but he’s done some fine acting. We dismissed with contempt his left wing politics and noticed with schadenfreude his embarrassing actions during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. But now, on several subjects, he’s one of us?

No getting around it. On the wuss factor in American culture, on #metoo, and on cancel culture Sean Penn is articulate and accurate. Perhaps wisdom finally came to him with age. For whatever reason, welcome aboard Sean. The water’s just fine here.

FNC: “Sean Penn doubled down on comments he made about masculinity in American men during a recent interview in which he blamed ‘cowardly genes’ for men ‘putting on a skirt.’

The controversial comments came after the ‘Flag Day’ actor and two-time Oscar-winner spoke out about American culture in an interview with a newspaper in which he explained that he feels men in the country are being feminized.

In an interview with The Independent, Penn was asked to clarify those remarks. In his response, the 61-year-old actor further stated that he believes that men in the U.S. are finding it either fashionable or empowering to adopt feminine traits.”

“I am in the club that believes that men in American culture have become wildly feminised,” he said. “I don’t think that being a brute or having insensitivity or disrespect for women is anything to do with masculinity, or ever did. But I don’t think that [in order] to be fair to women, we should become them.”

“I think that men have, in my view, become quite feminised,” he stated. “I have these very strong women in my life who do not take masculinity as a sign of oppression toward them. There are a lot of, I think, cowardly genes that lead to people surrendering their jeans and putting on a skirt.”

Penn on #metoo: “Salacious is as soon as you call something a movement that is really a series of many individual accusers, victims, accusations, some of which are unfounded. The spirit of much of what has been the #MeToo movement is to divide men and women.”

A childish actress named Thandiwe Newton made a pathetic attempt to respond to him. She came off sounding like a teenage wino.

“Dude what are you SAY-ING?? Like for REAL? You’re a jibbering FOOL. MF you used to be sexy but now you’re just tragic,” she wrote in a tweet Monday. “In front of your DAUGHTER!? That poor little mite. Thank God her Mum’s so dope. Please stop ruining the brilliance of #LicoricePizza with this nonsense,” she wrote. That woman needs serious medication.

And Penn on cancel culture: “When we’re destroying careers like that, what are we really achieving? Or you look at politicians, I give a big nod to anyone that’s willing to enter the public arena who is doing so because they give a damn,” the Oscar-winner added. Yup, weird, but true. Sean Penn, cultural conservative.
