Among the numerous disasters and dilemmas the country is facing right now, A-list actor and recent star of Netflix’s “Don’t Look Up”, Leonardo DiCaprio, sat down with Deadline to discuss his new role. Instead of focusing on working alongside Jennifer Lawrence or director Adam McKay, DiCaprio decided to use the time to declare the Earth only has nine years left on its clock. Not only startling, but the climate change activist added, “we should not have any elected leaders, on a state level, on a city level, or a national level that don’t listen to science.” But while DiCaprio might be pleading with America and the world to make a difference, he himself was seen relaxing on a yacht just a few weeks ago.

Although the film is nothing more than fiction and the trailer can be watched below, DiCaprio insisted, “Much like this movie, there is a ticking clock. I think there’s a worldwide sense of anxiety about the fact that the powers that be, the private sector, governments, are not making the transition fast enough. We literally have a nine-year window. So, this movie is certainly not that far off as far as the urgency of the matter.”

It should be noted that before DiCaprio landed his role in the film, he was a constant voice when it came to environmental issues. In 2016, the actor suggested climate change was “the biggest problem that mankind has ever had to face.” He followed that speech up by taking a private jet to the World Economic Forum to denounce the energy industry as being greedy

And as mentioned above, just a few weeks ago, DiCaprio, who believes the world is on the brink of extension, decided to soak up the sun with 24-year-old Camila Morrone, his girlfriend, on billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli’s yacht.
