Since COVID-19 was first announced, the Democrats and the Biden administration have called for sweeping mandates that are supposedly meant to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. One of the steps was enforcing people to wear a mask while indoors and sharing space with multiple people. The mask craze got so out of control that now some schools are forcing children to wear a mask for up to eight hours a day. And although many experts have come forward claiming the mask does little to stop the spread of COVID-19, recently, Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted that when it comes to wearing them on planes, it might become a forever mandate.

Making one of his numerous appearances throughout the weeks, Dr. Fauci, who is currently the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden, spoke with ABC’s Jonathan Karl on “This Week” about the future of masks. The host asked if “we [are] going to get to the point where we won’t have to wear masks on airplanes.”

Fauci responded, “I think when you’re dealing with a closed space, even though the filtration is good, that you want to go that extra step. When you have people— you know, you get a flight from Washington to San Francisco, it’s well over a five-hour flight. Even though you have a good filtration system, I still believe that masks are a prudent thing to do, and we should be doing it.”

While Fauci claims in the video above that masks could be a forever mandate on flights, American Airlines CEO Doug Parker and Southwest CEO Gary Kelly spoke in front of Congress and had an entirely different take. Kelly noted, “I think the case is very strong that masks don’t add much, if anything, in the air cabin environment. It is very safe and very high quality compared to any other indoor setting.”

Parker added, “I concur. An aircraft is the safest place you can be. It’s true of all of our aircraft — they all have the same HEPA filters and air flow.”
