On December 13th, Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard uploaded a video to Twitter urging the Biden administration that if they’re really all for spreading “democracy”, then the administration should do the right thing and drop the charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

As we previously reported here at Red Voice Media, the United Kingdom’s High Court ruled in favor of the United States’ efforts to have Assange extradited to the country to face trial regarding an 18-count superseding indictment that the Justice Department announced back in May of 2019.

Our previous reporting on the matter noted that Assange is wanted in the U.S. for allegedly conspiring to obtain and openly disclose national defense information that was reportedly among the hundreds of thousands of leaked documents published on WikiLeaks pertaining to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Rep. Gabbard claimed in her December 13th video that the continued efforts to extradite Assange and have him face trial “expose the hypocrisy of the establishment’s mission to quote-unquote spread democracy.”

“The British High Court’s recent ruling is allowing the United State’s effort to extradite and prosecute journalist Julian Assange to move forward. Now their efforts continue to expose the hypocrisy of the establishment’s mission to quote-unquote spread democracy.

President Biden recently hosted a democracy summit, but if the Biden administration truly believed in democracy – including and especially freedom of the press – then he would immediately drop these charges against Julian Assange.”
