LOS ANGELES, CA –  In-N-Out Burger appears to be defying Los Angeles’ proof of vaccination requirement for indoor dining, which went into effect this week.

CBS Local visited five In-N-Out locations all over Los Angeles last night, and not one of them was enforcing the new requirement despite the fact that violators could be fined up to $5,000. CBS reporter Tom Wait was not asked to show proof of vaccination at any of the restaurants, not even after he ordered and sat at a table inside.

In-N-Out Burger has made no secret of the fact that it is against COVID-19 shot mandates. When the first jab mandates began in the San Francisco Bay area back in the fall, In-N-Out refused to enforce the rules and was ultimately forced to shut down all indoor dining rooms.

“As a company, In-N-Out Burger strongly believes in the highest form of customer service and to us, that means serving all customers who visit us and making all customers feel welcome,” Chief Legal and Business Officer Arnie Wensinger said in a statement back in October, according to Restaurant Business Online.

“We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government. It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant associates to segregate customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason.”

“We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business,” Wensinger concluded. “This is a clear governmental overreach and is intrusive, improper and offensive.”

In-N-Out Burger joints in southern California appear to be just as defiant when it comes to enforcing jab mandates, and customers seem to be standing by the chain.

“You have the right to eat here or not,” one customer said last night. “It’s their business, not ours. It’s to them.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who is vehemently against jab mandates, is said to be trying to lure In-N-Out to his state.

“At the request of the Florida Governor, In-N-Out’s CEO Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson had a phone call with DeSantis,” a spokesperson for the burger chain said last month. “During that call, Governor DeSantis graciously invited In-N-Out Burger to do business in the state of Florida. While we are grateful for the gracious invitation, In-N-Out Burger has no plans or intention to expand operations or move its corporate headquarters to Florida.”

If California continues with its vaccine mandate madness, however, perhaps In-N-Out will reconsider turning down expanding to Florida.
