One Arizona Republican governor is fighting hard against vaccine mandates and the latest COVID-19 scams. But two Democrat mayors are challenging him. Why? Because in Arizona, like anywhere else in America, Democrats must create an atmosphere of fear and foreboding over the tired old virus. It’s their main shtick these days.

FNC: “Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed an executive order on Thursday that bans local or state governments from creating their own coronavirus vaccine mandates. ‘No person shall be required by this state, or any city, town or county to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine,’ the order states.

The governor will allow health care institutions to mandate the vaccine, however. Ducey renewed the local government vaccine mandate ban, which had recently expired. According to Fox 10 Phoenix, the City of Phoenix required every city worker to get vaccinated, regardless of remote work status or a previous positive coronavirus test result. The mandate would have required city workers to be vaccinated by Jan. 18.”

Phoenix tried to pull this little maneuver. “In order to be considered compliant, employees will be required to submit a completed vaccination card with two completed doses for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one completed dose for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Booster doses are not required at this time,” read a letter sent to city workers on Nov. 18. “Employees not in compliance with the COVID-19 vaccine requirement by January 18, 2022 will be contacted and subject to progressive discipline up to and including termination.” But the governor struck back.

“COVID mandates of any kind – whether they concern masks or vaccines – have proven to be divisive and counterproductive. Governor Ducey believes Arizonans can and should make their own decisions about their healthcare, not an overreaching federal or city government,” the Ducey spox said. But Tucson disagrees.

“He has no authority to preempt local actions through executive orders. Our employees answered that call to protect each other and protect our community,” Tucson Mayor Romero said.

“Tucson’s vaccine mandate is illegal, and the city could be held liable for attempting to force employees to take it against their beliefs,” Arizona AG Brnovich said in a press release. “COVID-19 vaccinations should be a choice, not a government mandate.” Ducey had earlier strongly commented on the subject.

“Joe Biden has failed us on COVID. He ran for office on a promise to ‘shut down the virus.’ He has failed on this, much as he has failed on the border crisis and in Afghanistan. So now, President Biden’s plan is to shut down freedom,” Ducey said. “COVID-19 is a contagious disease, it is still with us and it will be for the foreseeable future. President Biden’s solution is hammering down on private businesses and individual freedoms in an unprecedented and dangerous way.”
