LANCASTER, CA – A grandmother and her four grandchildren, one of whom was a toddler, were reportedly shot and killed on the evening of November 28th inside of the grandmother’s home. Police say that the 29-year-old father of the four young children has been arrested for the five murders.

The incident occurred at a home located within the 3500 block of Garnet Lane during the evening of November 30th. Authorities were made aware of the disturbing incident after the mother of the four slain children, ages 12 and under, returned home at approximately 10:30 p.m. to find her mother and children suffering from gunshot wounds.

When police arrived on the scene, they noted that the grandmother, the three young boys and the young girl had all suffered gunshot wounds to their upper torsos. All five of the victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following the incident, officials stated that 29-year-old Germarcus David, the father of the four children, had turned himself in at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. He has since been booked into jail and charged with five counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child causing death, with his bail being set at $2 million.

Homicide detectives continued to process the scene during the morning of November 29th, according to reports.

In a statement released by District Attorney George Gascón on November 30th regarding the case, the DA said that “No family should endure this type of tragedy, especially when the alleged perpetrator was responsible for their protection.”

The coroner’s office released the identities of the deceased, naming them as 51-year-old Ericka England, 11-year-old Namyiah David, seven-year-old Germarcus David Jr., two-year-old Kaden David, and 19-month-old Noah David.

England, the grandmother killed during the incident, was reportedly a corrections officer at the state prison in Lancaster, where she’d been employed since 1997.

As for the suspect in the case, while authorities have yet to attribute any possible motive to the killings, he was reportedly a licensed security guard who’d at one time been permitted to carry a gun while working but said permit had expired in August of 2020.

Details about the suspect’s social media activity in the weeks leading up to the killings are also strikingly odd, as David reportedly posted on Facebook frequently about religion and spirituality.
