Democrat Who Suggested Waukesha Tragedy Was Karma For Rittenhouse Case Resigns

A Democrat lawmaker from Illinois who tried to portray the Christmas parade tragedy in Waukesha, Wisconsin as being karma for Friday’s acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse has resigned.

Fox News reported that Mary Lemanski resigned from her position as social media director of the Democratic Party of DuPage County, Illinois on Monday morning. Her name was removed from the organization’s webpage that same day.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Waukesha,” DuPage Democrats said in a statement. “We are aware of statements made by a former member of our organization and find them to be incredibly insensitive and not in alignment of who we are as an organization. Our organization does not support hate in any form.”

This came after Lemanski took to Twitter to write, “It was probably just self-defense,” with the hashtags “Wisconsin” and “KyleRittenhouse.”

“Living in Wisconsin, he probably felt threatened,” read another tweet, referring to the man who plowed through the parade in a red SUV.

“I’m sure he didn’t want to hurt anyone,” she added. “He came to help people.

Lemanski’s posts seem to mock the self-defense arguments that were made by Rittenhouse’s defense attorneys in his double homicide trial. He was acquitted last Friday.

“The blood of Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims is on the hands of Wisconsin citizens,” Lemanski wrote at one point, “even the children.”

In yet another tweet, Lemanski stated, “I’m sad. I’m sad anytime anyone dies. I just believe in Karma and this came around quick on the citizens of Wisconsin.”

“You reap what you sow, Wisconsin,” she ominously wrote in a different tweet. The Democrat later added, “It’s sad people died, but when you open the door to vigilante justice, everyone seems threatening.”

A 2019 biography on the website of the DuPage County Democratic Party describes Lemanski as “DuPage Dems’ Difference Maker.” At the time, she said that she was single mom of two kids who managed the party’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Last week, Lemanski took to her Facebook page to write about a “white wing group” trying to prevent her from speaking at a school board meeting. She later claimed that the group was full of “fascists” who shut down “all opposing viewpoints.”

Five people were killed in the tragedy that happened in Waukesha on Sunday, and over forty people were injured.
