SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – Just in time for the upcoming holiday festivities like Thanksgiving, Santa Cruz County instituted a new indoor mask mandate on November 22nd that even includes masking up while inside “private settings like a home.”

In a report from ABC News 7, the mask mandate announced in Santa Cruz County takes things a few steps beyond masking up in the likes of businesses and extends this mandate to people having guests inside their homes.

“An indoor mask mandate is now in effect in Santa Cruz County and it covers private settings like a home. If you are getting together with others who don’t live in the same household the county says you should mask up regardless of vaccination status. Businesses are also required to follow the guidelines. You can take off your mask when eating or drinking.”

Well, it’s a relief that people inside of their homes amongst company can remove their masks to eat and drink – but they should probably sleep with it on too in the event a guest has a bit too much Thanksgiving wine and has to stay the night.

Obvious sarcasm aside, just how in the world would an indoor mask mandate being imposed on private residences work from an enforcement standpoint? Will police and tattletales be posted outside someone’s curtilage, peeking through windows to catch wind of an infraction?

Do they intend to send folks door-to-door to ensure all occupants inside homes are abiding by the mandate? And, in the event someone is caught running afoul of the indoor mask mandate inside of their home, will they get a citation?

Honestly, the concept of officials or authorities going door-to-door to see if people in Santa Cruz County are abiding by the mandate isn’t that farfetched, considering that we at Red Voice Media shared a report earlier in November of local Health Department workers in Houston, Texas asking people at their door about the COVID jab status.

It keeps going farther and farther every time – and now a California county wants people to mask up inside of their homes in the event they have guests over.
