Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has gone after parents, and journalists, and now a former close advisor to Donald Trump. They have politically weaponized the DOJ to act as a modern NKVD, targeting political opponents for intimidation and prosecution. But James O’Keefe or Steve Bannon is not the real target of their zeal. They want Donald Trump.

They still haven’t forgiven him for ruining their 2016 narrative. They hate him for his policy successes. They wanted him to slink away after 2020. He won’t. And they are scared to death he’ll run and win in 2024. Steve Bannon is only a pawn to get to the king.

Steve Bannon is a political strategist of the first order. But he can be erratic and self-serving. Democrats are counting on that and plan to give Bannon enough rope to hang himself. Or they’re hoping to intimidate him enough to turn on Trump. What they don’t realize is that Bannon loves the renewed limelight.

That’s why he has taken the offensive. He gets to go after his political enemies, draw fire away from Trump, and if he pays a price by the hand of the Democrat Congress then he can act as a martyr and further burnish his credentials with Trump and his followers. He could also run out the clock, after a dramatic appearance before Congress, and wait for the likely new Republican Congress in January. All viable and delicious options for Bannon.

FNC: “Steve Bannon, the former adviser to former President Donald Trump, has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of criminal contempt of Congress, his attorney David Schoen told Fox News.

He is being charged for refusing to appear for a congressional deposition and for refusing to provide documents in response to the committee’s subpoena. The charges could carry up to a year in prison and $1,000 fine, each. Schoen said Bannon entered the not guilty plea in written form. A virtual status hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Bannon was charged after defying a subpoena from the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The House voted 229-202 to hold Bannon in contempt last month on Oct. 21. Reps. Peter Meijer and Fred Upton of Michigan, John Katko of New York, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington, Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois were the nine Republicans who voted to hold Bannon in contempt.”

Bannon said on Monday, saying he is “taking on the Biden regime…”This is going to be a misdemeanor from hell for Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.” Former Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz doubts the legitimacy of the charges against Bannon. “This is a very compliant and politically aligned Department of Justice.. They still have Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
