There has been no person more adamant about Americans taking COVID-19 seriously more than President Joe Biden. The man literally campaigned while in a basement in order not to contract the virus. Now, President Biden pushes outrageous vaccine mandates, claiming it is the only way to fight the pandemic. But while Biden might appear to be the biggest supporter of COVID-19 mandates, the President was caught violating a mask mandate in Washington D.C. over the weekend.

It is common knowledge for those who live around the D.C. area that a citywide mask mandate has been in effect for some time. But it appears that the same rules that apply to common voters don’t apply to the people they voted for. In the video below, President Biden and his wife Jill Biden are seen walking through the Italian restaurant Fiola Mara on Saturday. While the secret service around them all wore masks. The President and the First Lady both decided they didn’t need to wear one.

What’s really strange about President Biden going maskless is the fact that he helped put the mandates in place. The D.C. health guidelines state a mask should be worn at all times. “This includes any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues, and common areas of apartment or condominium complexes).”

To go even further, the restaurant they visited, Fiola Mara, said they also have a mask mandate in effect. “Per CDC guidance and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s executive order, all individuals over age 2 are required to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be always worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking. Thank you for understanding.”

It is unclear why the restaurant decided not to enforce the mandate while the President visited.
