While many schools around the country have made headlines for implementing outrageous COVID-19 mandates, a Texas middle school has gone viral as students filmed an unnamed 8th-grade teacher confronting her student. Although teachers have been filmed in the past trying to convince their students to reach for the stars, this teacher decided to not only pin her young female student to the wall but also breathe on her without a mask.

On September 17th, students at Mead Middle school watched in confusion as the teacher lost her emotions and even got physical with her student. The female student Jacqueline Garza said the incident started because several students were using their phones during the class.”We were using our phones and she asked us not to use our phones. I was like, ‘Okay.’ And she was like, ‘Okay.’ And we went back and forth and she said, ‘Don’t disrespect me like that.'”

Although the video doesn’t show the whole ordeal, Garza added, “She called me the ‘B’ word. That’s when she got in my face and she said, ‘Don’t disrespect me!’ She was breathing on my face with her mask off, spitting on my face. It made me feel embarrassed and scared, not just for me, but my whole class.”

With the video going viral and many commenting on the incident, the Aldine Independent School District placed the teacher on leave and has since started an investigation into the matter.

The district also issued a statement saying, “Student safety is a top priority for Aldine ISD. The district is aware of the incident. After being notified of the incident, the teacher was removed from the classroom and an investigation was conducted. The investigation has concluded and the district will take appropriate administrative action. The teacher’s conduct is unacceptable and violates the district’s standards of conduct. We take our responsibility seriously to ensure a safe learning environment for all students. The district is reviewing all consequences, including termination. The teacher has not returned to the classroom since the incident occurred on Sept. 17.”
