It should come as no surprise that CNN is having a rather difficult time keeping viewers. Thanks to former President Donald Trump pulling the veil back on the fake news media, many Americans have turned off their televisions as news outlets do nothing more than pandering to the Biden administration. And not helping the matter, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on Monday, “We all know corporate media lies, OK. They do not tell the truth. Assume what they tell you is false and then figure out why they are telling you a false narrative.” Not taking kindly to their livelihoods being put in jeopardy, CNN’s very own Brain Stelter responded to DeSantis with some poor words. 

Although Stelter didn’t make the statement on air, he did go where all politicians congregate – Twitter. He responded to DeSantis with, “GOP’s anti-media streak summarized: Governor of one of the biggest states in the USA says citizens should ‘assume’ news outlets are lying to them.”

While Stelter’s comments were trying to be a jab at DeSantis, they were just more of a summarization of what the Florida Governor said. As for what users thought, journalist Glenn Greenwald responded, “After the behavior of the corporate media over the last 5 years — an endless string of lies and deranged conspiracy theories to promote a clear agenda — people are right to assume they’re lying. When CNN gets caught in lies, it either denies it or won’t even acknowledge it.”

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon couldn’t help but add, “Imagine ever assuming CNN was reporting a story without spin. It’s been reported that they bought an industrial washing machine back in 2018 that has a spin cycle setting specifically for that purpose.”

It should be noted that in 2020, CNN had to settle a $250 million defamation lawsuit with former student Nick Sandmann for their false narrative about him. 

As for Stelter, while angry at DeSantis, it might just be misplaced jealousy as  TV Land’s 10:48 a.m. ET repeat of “The Golden Girls” managed to beat his show in viewership.
