There are numerous narratives being thrown around when it comes to the Capitol Hill riot on January 6th. One of the most false narratives being peddled by the Democrats is that the protesters are somehow domestic terrorists. And who could forget how they suggested that several people died due to the so-called insurrection? The truth is – only one person died that day, and Lt. Michael Byrd shot her. While the Democrats deem them, heroes, a newly released report showed no legitimate justification for the officer to shoot Ashli Babbitt.

The report, which the D.C. Metropolitan Police released, stated, “Sergeant [redacted] observed Lieutenant Byrd step back just after hearing the gunshot. He did not see anything in the female protester’s hands prior to the gunshot.”

That statement alone is crucial as the standard requirement for the use of any deadly force by an officer is only acceptable if there is a threat of death or serious injury. As mentioned above, the officer that was present at the scene, seeing the exact same thing as Lt. Byrd, was able to see that Babbitt wasn’t a threat.

Although the report shows Babbitt wasn’t a threat, some officers claim that Byrd had no other option than to shoot and kill her while she climbed through a window. One officer said if Byrd hadn’t shot Babbitt, the crowd would have become chaotic. Another officer suggested the protesters would have seen Byrd as vulnerable and might have taken his weapon. But again, none of these are true as they are just opinions and never happened.

An unnamed officer also admitted, “She was just dressed the part…she had a Trump flag around her neck…if it wasn’t her, I mean, it would have been someone else.”

Even with the report available, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia ultimately declined to press any charges against Byrd. Again, this is after the same officer who didn’t see Babbitt as a threat said she was doing nothing more than yelling.
