Activists Storm Out Of Meeting With Biden Administration Over Southern Border Policy

One of the main focus points of the Biden campaign was the Southern border. President Joe Biden hounded former President Donald Trump about his strong stance on border patrol and making sure that people came into the country the right way. Still, the liberal handlers behind Biden painted Trump as some villain who was mistreating immigrants and locking them in cages. Now that Biden is in the White House, no reporter can even visit a migrant facility. Not to mention the untold number of immigrants crossing the border without any repercussions. But thanks to the Supreme Court, which ruled against Biden’s policy, the administration announced on Friday they would be reinstating the “remain in Mexico” policy. And if Biden was hoping activists wouldn’t notice, he would be wrong – again.

On Saturday, one day after making the announcement, top immigration activists apparently stormed out of a meeting with the Biden administration over the new policy. One of the officials there was the White House Domestic Policy Council’s Esther Olavarria. At some point during the meeting, around a dozen activists decided they had heard enough from the administration that promised them so much and simply walked out.

One of the activists in the meeting, Ariana Saludares, said, “I cannot stand one more meeting of them pretending. They give us accolades on the outside, but on the inside, we’re having to take out the metaphoric knives from our back. It’s almost like we were bamboozled into thinking that this was going to be the best option, and it isn’t. It’s actually worse. It is as if you know that your family is now turning against you and telling you that it’s okay. It’s not.”

Another activist, Luis Guerra, added, “We don’t actually believe they’re doing everything in their power to actually restore asylum at the border, the way that they say that they’re trying to.”

While they couldn’t agree, a White House official tried to ease tensions by reiterating that the Biden administration doesn’t agree with the “remain in Mexico” policy. “The Biden Administration has been very clear that MPP is not an immigration policy we agree with or support. That’s why the Department of Homeland Security immediately appealed the court injunction once it was ordered. We are incredibly thankful and appreciative of the work immigration advocates and organizations do around the clock to improve our immigration system.”
