The former President Donald Trump is reportedly out to get revenge on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for turning on him.
Trump is even actively vetting possible candidates to challenge McConnell, according to The Wall Street Journal. Sources say that the former president has been meeting with Republican senators to drum up interest in ousting McConnell, although the insiders added that Trump has not found much success in finding people who want the minority leader gone.
Former President Donald Trump has spoken recently with senators and allies about trying to depose Mitch McConnell as Senate GOP leader and whether any Republicans are interested in mounting a challenge, people familiar with the conversations said https://t.co/4aHTLwJEmh

While McConnell was an ally of Trump’s during his presidency, their relationship deteriorated back in February, when the Senate Minority Leader said that he believed Trump was “morally responsible” for provoking the Capitol riot that took place on January 6, according to The Hill.
“There’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day. No question about it. The people that stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president,” McConnell said at the time.
Trump fired back by calling for new leadership to replace McConnell.
“I think we’re going to do very well. We need good leadership. Mitch McConnell has not done a great job. I think they should change Mitch McConnell,” Trump said in April.
Last month, Trump ripped McConnell as “overrated” because he supported the infrastructure bill.
“Nobody will ever understand why Mitch McConnell allowed this non-infrastructure bill to be passed. He has given up all of his leverage for the big whopper of a bill that will follow,” Trump said. “I have quietly said for years that Mitch McConnell is the most overrated man in politics — now I don’t have to be quiet anymore.”
Despite Trump’s attacks on McConnell, the establishment in the GOP has continued to support the Kentucky Republican. Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), who was also a Trump ally, expressed his doubts to The Journal that the former president would succeed in ousting McConnell.
“I just don’t realistically see that happening,” said Kennedy.
Trump, however, is not showing any signs of giving up on this. Earlier this week, he directly called on Senate Republicans to get rid of McConnell.
“I think Mitch McConnell has proven to be a disaster,” Trump told The Federalist. “He’s not good for the Republican Party as a leader, and I wish I wouldn’t have endorsed him.”
“The Senate has to make a change at some point,” he added. “I don’t think it’s acceptable having him as a leader.”
When McConnell turned on Trump earlier this year, he showed millions of pro-Trump Republicans that he was a sell-out in their eyes. McConnell may have the GOP establishment behind him, but it’s never a good spot to be in when Trump is coming after you hard. When Trump gets hit, he punches back twice as hard, so it will certainly be interesting to see if McConnell is able to survive this.

Good Morning well any good republican republican would want to have this career as a politician and someone who doesn’t stand up for the American People or stand up to the creep democrats so Kentucky needs to vote him out
I’ve opposed Mr. Turtle Head for years. Those who continue to support him are part of the reason I left the GOP in 2000.
Take the RINO down
Take the 19 Republican Senators who voted for the Democrat infrastructure bill out because they are not true Republicans. Especially McConnell and Cassidy.
Not just mitch mcTurtle, but ALL rino cowards and traitors need to go…..
McConnell must GO ! He is single-handedly destroying any remaining credibility the Republican Party still holds.
America is quickly being destroyed by Biden and his nutcases supporting Antifa, BLM etcetera !
If the American electorate ( the VOTERS ) simply sit on their collective backsides waiting for some miracle or other, then the USA will remain even deeper in the mire both internationally and domestic.
The World is looking on in total incredibility – the goings-on in Washington DC are making the whole world regard the USA as a total shambles and less reliable than even a 3rd World Dictatorship !
There’s a lot of planted Democrats in the Republican party.
mcconnell is a disgusting cowardly traitor to Conservatives. He needs to go and I would think his state can come up with a better candidate than this clown. Tells you a lot about the republicans who don’t want him gone — they should be gone also.
Republicans who do not want to see McConnell go are fellow RINOs and need to be defeated the next time they are up for election/re-election.
This is about a RINO, not for advertisements Lunatic
Trump must go. He will cost us the 2022 and 2024 elections.
YES! McConnell is a rino traitor as was his rino Hemorrhoid Paul Ryan when he was House leader! These two traitors were terrible and disgusting!!!!!
Mitch McConnell is in this for himself. He has stabbed Trump in the back multiple time in order to cover his butt. He has become a detriment to the country and the people. You can not rely on McConnell to fight for our rights if he will benefit for turning on us. Time for this codger to go and we need a strong, fearless leader in the Senate. One who will give the Left a solid run for their money and preferably stomp them in the dirt.
Work on getting Mitch out of the spot he has but make sure you get someone better lined up. AND/OR don’t be so public about what
you are doing. Do it behind the scenes. While I don,t trust Mitch either, it is beginning to look vindictive – going after him.
And what is wrong with being vindictive against McConnell? Come on man, you sound like a Democrat.
A lot of left over hogs have to be replaced, they have been in office way too long. 2 terms has to be the limit of serveing, after that they become too engrossed to serve themselves at the expense of us the voters. I wish that term would come forth but it gets shot down and we know why.
