If you are the coach of a football team and the other team started a quarterback who is constantly throwing interceptions, interceptions that you have scored on, do you want him replaced? Of course not. You want him to stay in the game so you can keep scoring points off his blunders. Because of his pathetic quarterbacking, Joe Biden is an electoral albatross around the necks of the Democrats. Ergo, why would conservatives and Republicans want him gone?

An easy answer is, for the good of the country. Really? Because who takes over if he goes? Kamala Harris, think she will be better for America? Fine then, simpletons say, she can resign too! And if you somehow boot her before she picks a Bolshevik veep, who takes over then? Nancy Pelosi. See? Resignation or impeachment just brings us from debacle to probably worse debacle. We must protect the albatross.

And impeachment? The numbers aren’t there in either chamber of Congress. That will very likely remain true, at least in the Senate, even after a GOP congressional takeover in 2023. That’s why Mitch McConnell is against impeachment. It’s futile, no chance of success. Again McConnell proves himself the smartest Republican of the bunch. Save the albatross.

Plus, after going on and on about how the Democrats hurt the country by launching two doomed impeachments, are we going to do the same thing? Think the voters would notice the hypocrisy? Nahhhhh…

That’s why it is so amusing to hear various Republican politicians calling for resignation or impeachment. They know Biden will not resign at their behest and they also know there is absolutely no chance to remove him from office by impeachment. But that doesn’t stop them from riling up the hayseeds in the base to volcanic levels over an issue that Republican politicians know is completely fictitious.

Sure, there are some public relations points to be made. But those Republicans in this instance, as is the practice of most politicians most of the time, are merely emotionally manipulating friendly constituencies for fun and political profit.

Now the Democrats are another story entirely. They really need Joe Biden gone, especially before next year’s midterms. However, they won’t do it with a Republican knife at their throats. But, if Biden’s fortunes don’t recover, and they very well may not, then he could get a visit from a delegation from the Hill. Nixon got the same type of visit not long before he resigned in 1974.

Those assembled mandarins, Schumer, Pelosi, etc, could tell him, around next spring, that his popularity is so low he will bring the party down to crashing defeat in November if he stays in office. As such, he must vamoose. Would he? Doubtful. The senile are notoriously stubborn. Thus the albatross may continue to go from gaffe to gaffe, disaster to disaster, much to the advantage of Republicans. That is a good thing. Let’s keep the albatross around to do just that.
