The LA Times launched yet another racist attack on the California Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder on Monday when a columnist mocked him as a “model minority” who says “the things white people love to hear about Black people.”

Elder is a black conservative who is considered the frontrunner of Governor Gavin Newsom’s challengers in tomorrow’s recall election. If he wins the election, Elder will make history as the first black governor of California.

This didn’t sit well with LA Times columnist Frank Shyong, who accused Elder of being a token African American who flatters White Republicans’ racial anxieties.

“The term ‘model minority’ has a specific history in the Asian American community, but I can’t think of a better embodiment of its concepts than Larry Elder, the Black Republican gubernatorial candidate who has made a career of saying the things white people love to hear about Black people,” Shyong wrote.

Shyong went on to say that Elder’s opposition to Black Lives Matter and rejection of the notion of “systemic racism” make him someone whose candidacy comforted the “most racist” wings of the GOP.

“And I don’t think Elder’s sudden prominence is an accident,” he wrote. “Fielding a ‘model minority’ candidate will probably become a common electoral strategy for the largely white Republican Party as it attempts to maintain control of a rapidly diversifying nation. Model minority candidates can help affirm far-right perspectives on racism while offering a defense against the charge that the Republican Party is too white.”

Shyong claimed that Elder is a “model minority” because he downplays White supremacy, touts his own success as proof against racism, and embraces the “bootstraps” narrative that the United States is somewhere where everyone can succeed.

“Democrat or Republican, and no matter what race you are, I guarantee that you don’t want to elect a model minority candidate. If they’ve decided to sell out their own people, why would they treat the rest of us any better?” he wrote.

This is far from the first time that The LA Times has launched a racist attack on Elder, as it also recently published an article titled “Column: Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy. You’ve been warned.” Elder fired back by saying that he was expecting these kinds of racist attacks from the left.

“I anticipated that would happen. This is why a lot of people don’t go into politics because of the politics of personal destruction,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “This is not the first time the L.A. Times has attacked me. There is another writer who all but called me a Black David Duke. They are scared to death.”

This all goes to show once again that there’s nobody the left both hates and fears more than a black conservative. Imagine how much the heads of California liberals would explode tomorrow if a Republican is the person to make history as the first black governor of their state.
