If you’re looking for the best example of attention trolloping in the world of limousine liberalism, then look no farther than the wacky Neiman Marxist congresswoman from the Bronx, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Though, some don’t find the comely airhead lawmaker very charming at all.

FNC: “The American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative watchdog group, has filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., over her attendance at the lavish Met Gala in New York City Monday night. Ocasio-Cortez sparked a social media firestorm after she wore a white dress with the slogan “tax the rich” at the star-studded event, where tickets go for at least $30,000 each.”

The congresswoman huffed and puffed and exclaimed that her critics were “flying off the handle” over her attendance. She insisted in a tweet that “New York elected officials are routinely invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing and supporting the city’s cultural institutions for the public. I was one of several in attendance in this evening.” Ha! The only time she oversees the Met is when she’s standing on its roof.

The AAF’s complaint asks the Office of Congressional Ethics to “immediately open an investigation” into Ocasio-Cortez and whether she received an “impermissible gift” to attend the soiree or violated any campaign finance regulations. “Without prompt investigation and enforcement of Congressional Rules, the American people are likely to lose faith in the ability of Congress to police its members,” the complaint says.

Predictably, CNN’s own gaggle of radical chic devotees defended her. “Because Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended the Met Gala last night, and this may be the dress that is the most remembered from it. On the back of this dress it says Tax The Rich. But this is also — there she is standing next to the designer who is one of the few black designers who was featured at this event. This of course, is one of the most expensive and elitist events of the year, and I wonder if you think she threaded the needle here with her message and her presence there or not?” elite CNN anchor Brianna Keilar asked.

“I think it is unsurprising to see criticism that there she is hobnobbing with the wealthy. The message of that dress is not a popular message in that crowd. And so there is something risky about doing it. I think that she could continue to preach to people who already agree with her, or she could preach to people who don’t, and she chose to do the latter,” Maggie Haberman, a wealthy reporter, said.

“I would say it’s the opposite of hobnobbing with the wealthy. And it shows the talent that AOC has. She has a strong belief system. She’s able to articulate that belief system,” John Harwood, a very rich hobnobber, opined. He also complimented Ocasio-Cortez’s dress as “a very strong message.” It is. Given the text style on the dress, the message to Chick-fil-A lawyers is copyright infringement.

“We’re now in this debate over the Biden economic agenda and Joe Manchin’s out saying too big, too fast, too many taxes. And how do progressives counter that? And with AOC, you see she uses her star power to go into that venue, high-profile venue, and drive a very strong message that is now on the front page of newspapers, and we’re talking about it on television,” Harwood said. Because, of course, Joe Manchin will change his hard fought views…over a trashy dress.
