Newt Gingrich Slams Biden As ‘Incompetent’ Over Afghanistan – ‘It’s An Astonishing Outcome’

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich spoke out on Thursday night to call out what he sees as the “astonishing” failure of President Joe Biden in Afghanistan. He also talked about what steps he feels Congress needs to take to respond to the Kabul Airport disaster.

“Well, this is an unusual circumstance,” Gingrich told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. “We have not seen a president this incompetent, we haven’t seen a president surrender to an enemy in the way that Joe Biden has.”

“And he’s allowed a 7th century tribal group to defeat the most powerful country in the 21st century. It’s an astonishing outcome,” he added. “So I think the Congress, if they actually cared about America, and wanted to put America first rather than partisan politics, both the House and Senate would go into special sessions – one, to hold hearings and really try to get at the truth.”

“Two, I think, to insist on firing an entire group of people. You can’t, as a practical matter, fire the president, but the national security adviser, the secretary of state, secretary of defense, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, commander of the Central Command,” Gingrich said. “I mean, we’ve learned that the system has failed.”

Last week, Gingrich trashed the Biden administration for their handling of the Afghanistan crisis, going so far as to call for top military officials to resign over it.

“The damage he has done, I don’t know if it’s senility, ignorance or arrogance but I do know that the secretary of defense and the chairman of the joint chiefs should both resign,” he said while appearing on Fox News. “They accepted a plan that was militarily impossible. You don’t give up Bagram Airfield and think you’re going to keep the embassy. This is insanity.”

Do you think President Biden should be impeached for the crisis in Afghanistan and loss of American lives?

“I think President Biden has in his own brain blocked out any information which would challenge what he decided,” Gingrich continued. “Look, he’s got a bad problem. He made the decision to surrender to the Taliban. That decision is not working very well. He can’t walk it back.”
