Representative Chip Roy, a Republican serving on the House Freedom Caucus and a member of the House Judiciary Committee, expressed support to impeach President Biden and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the ongoing border crisis.

Roy shared preliminary numbers at the border for the month of July in a social media thread Monday afternoon.

“Total encounters: 205,029. Total known gotaways: 37,400,” the Texas congressman tweeted. “1.3 million for [Fiscal Year] 21 so far. Largest monthly encounter number since 2000.”

According to CBS News, the final number is expected to be around 210,000, which would mark the highest number of migrant apprehensions in DHS history.

Chip Roy: Impeach Biden and Mayorkas

Nationally syndicated radio host Jesse Kelly responded to Chip Roy’s thread on the border crisis by suggesting Congress should impeach President Biden.

“What Joe Biden is doing at our border is impeachable. It’s more impeachable than Watergate,” he tweeted. “This is an attack on the sovereignty of America and it’s coming from the Oval Office.”

Kelly advised, “Republicans should move to impeach after 2022.”

Kelly’s message is referencing the contention that Republicans are primed to take back the House and/or Senate after the 2022 midterm elections.

Roy replied to Kelly’s tweet by writing “Co-sponsor” and adding a hashtag to impeach Biden and Mayorkas.

The Ever-Worsening Border Crisis

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, you may recall, in early March claimed there is no crisis at the border.

Less than six months later, the crisis rages out of control.

During a single 24 hour period this weekend, there were 3,000 border encounters in the Rio Grande Valley Sector alone, according to Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins.

From Friday to Sunday, there were over 8,100.

Shocking new footage shows a single group of up to 1,000 people being held by Border Patrol under a bridge near the southern border in Texas, something Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) described as an “absolute catastrophe.”

Bill Melugin, a national correspondent for Fox News, tweeted a video of a large group of hundreds of illegal immigrants turning themselves in at a ballpark in La Joya, Texas, something he says happens “all day long” and “nonstop.”

Then, of course, there is the ongoing fact that as President Biden pushes mask mandates for vaccinated Americans and threatens more COVID restrictions, the number of COVID-positive illegal immigrants is surging by as much as 900%.

A judge in Hidalgo County, Texas last week accused the Biden administration of releasing COVID-positive illegal immigrants into surrounding communities.

He blamed “ill-conceived policies” at the federal and state levels and “call(ed) on federal immigration officials to stop releasing infected migrants into our community.”

A whistleblower complaint filed last Wednesday alleges the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) urged workers at a migrant facility in Texas to downplay the severity of a COVID outbreak among children earlier this year.

“Every effort was made to downplay the degree of COVID infection at the site, and the size of the outbreak was deliberately kept under wraps,” the complaint reads.

Meanwhile, officials say that cartels are “dictating” where large family groups should cross the border so they can smuggle people into the United States undetected.

The border crisis is a complete failure of leadership, and American communities abandoned by the Biden administration, led by Mayorkas and immigration czar Kamala Harris, are left to deal with the consequences.
