A judge in Hidalgo County, Texas has accused the Biden administration of releasing COVID-positive illegal immigrants into surrounding communities. And he wants it to stop.
He also accused Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott of removing tools Hidalgo County needs to stop infections, like mask mandates.
Judge Richard Cortez, who presides in what is considered one of the fastest-growing counties in the country near the southern tip of Texas, is demanding the federal government stop releasing “infected migrants.”
“We have been doing well as a community in slowing the spread of this deadly virus,” Cortez said in a statement.
He blamed “ill-conceived policies” at the federal and state levels for serious consequences being faced in Hidalgo County.
“I call on federal immigration officials to stop releasing infected migrants into our community and I am further calling on Governor Abbott to return to Hidalgo County the safety tools he took away that would help us slow the spread of this disease,” added Cortez.

COVID Positive Illegals Being Released Into Communities?
Bill Melugin, a national correspondent with Fox News, is reporting that police in La Joya, Texas, have been warning that illegal immigrants that test positive for COVID are being released into the community.
“Illegal immigrants who test positive for COVID-19 are being released from federal custody to a local Catholic charity in the (Rio Grande Valley),” he reports.
They are then allegedly placed “in local hotels without notice.”

Sister Norma Pimentel, who runs the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, said that the group is getting local hotels to take in migrants infected with COVID.
“A security guard was hired at the hotel to keep the migrants inside,” according to Border Report.
The reporter posted a video of the “Border Patrol dropping off dozens of migrants at the charity.”

Governor Abbott Deploys National Guard
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, meanwhile, announced that he was deputizing the National Guard to begin assisting law enforcement in making arrests on the border.
“To respond to this disaster and secure the rule of law at our Southern border, more manpower is needed,” Abbott wrote in a letter to Major Gen. Tracy R. Norris of the Texas Military Department.
“I hereby order that the Texas National Guard assist DPS in enforcing Texas law by arresting lawbreakers at the border,” he concluded.

The border crisis appears to be, unbelievably, getting worse.
Last week alone, there were reportedly 20,000 illegal immigrants apprehended in just the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the border.
For context, there was an average of approximately 14,000 apprehensions per week in this region in June, and June apprehensions totaled a new 21-year high.
According to one author of a study out of MIT and Yale, only an estimated 68% of the illegal immigrants crossing the border are apprehended, meaning an estimated 576,000 illegal immigrants could cross the border and escape into the U.S. undetected this year.
It’s the hottest part of the summer and apprehensions are skyrocketing! #USBP Apprehensions surpassed the 1-million milestone in June.
