Of all the recently proposed Biden administration actions, by far the most dangerous and unprecedented is a federal vaccine mandate.

Now, I have been vaccinated. It was my own choice and my decision was a better safe than sorry move. No, I don’t think the Atomic Mole People injected me with secret a Maoist virus that will make me vote for Sanders and constantly hum The Internationale. Nor do I think COVID-19 was a Bill Gates and George Soros evil biological plot to take over the world and make me throw badly made Molotovs at urban police stations. My guess (and I, like most of us, can only hazard a guess) is that it was a bioweapon gone awry and then used with stunning political efficiency by the Left.

The virus was never the threat it was made out to be, at least to most of us, as the recovery rates are sky high. And now the Biden administration wants to coerce people to guard against an overplayed hand that is largely burned out? Josef Mengele, who also practiced coercive medical techniques, would heartily approve. There may also be massive Fourth Amendment issues at play.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky was asked by press Friday, “Are you for mandating a vaccine on a federal level?”

“That’s something that I think the administration is looking into. It’s something that I think we are looking to see approval of from the vaccine,” Walensky replied.

Walensky later “clarified” her statement on Twitter, writing “There will be no nationwide mandate. I was referring to mandates by private institutions and portions of the federal government. There will be no federal mandate.”  To be fair, she made that comment. You will also remember, “I’m not a crook,” “Read my lips, no new taxes,” “You can keep your doctor,” and “I did not have sex with that woman.” Politicians and bureaucrats lie. If the time comes and she decides to recommend a vaccine mandate, she will just say circumstances have changed. But a government that forcibly injects its citizens with a substance they do not want in their bodies is past a circumstantial argument. We’re into the realm of authoritarian action.

What’s also unbelievable about this question is that the same people who scream “my body, my choice” when it comes to abortion have no problem taking that choice away from others when it comes to an issue they favor. So it’s okay to abort a life. But not okay to give people a choice about what is injected into their bloodstreams.

If there is any place where government should tread lightly it is in what they mandate in regards to our own bodies. This proposal crosses that line. On this essential issue of personal freedom, individual citizens must be given the final say.
