Democratic strategist James Carville spoke out on Tuesday night to issue a major warning to Democrats against embracing the “woke” far-left agenda.

While appearing on Chris Cuomo’s CNN show, Carville was asked about former President Donald Trump winning a greater share of support from urban black and Hispanic voters in 2020 than he did in 2016.

“People want candidates to address their lives,” Carville said in response, adding that the majority of Democratic voters disagree with the “noisy identity left,” which he estimated to be made up of just 15% of all Democrats.

Carville went on to say that the main problem with the vocal minority is simply that they do not win elections.

“The overwhelming number of Democrats, the most important constituents in our party, are blacks and suburban women, they’re not into this, all right?” Carville asked.

“We’re letting a noisy wing of our party define the rest of us. And my point is we can’t do that,” he added. “I think these people are kind of nice people. I think they’re very naive and they’re all into language and identity, and that’s all right. They’re not storming the Capitol, but they’re not winning elections. And I think people ought to see this for what it is. People are way more interested in their lives and how to improve them than they are in somebody else’s pronouns.”

Carville issued a similar warning earlier this year.

“Wokeness is a problem, and we all know it,” Carville told Vox back in April, adding that “faculty language politics” is hurting the left.

“You ever get the sense that people in faculty lounges in fancy colleges use a different language than ordinary people? They come up with a word like ‘Latinx’ that no one else uses,” Carville said. “Or they use a phrase like ‘communities of color.’ I don’t know anyone who speaks like that. I don’t know anyone who lives in a ‘community of color.’ I know lots of white and Black and brown people and they all live in … neighborhoods.”

“There’s nothing inherently wrong with these phrases,” he added. “But this is not how people talk. This is not how voters talk. And doing it anyway is a signal that you’re talking one language and the people you want to vote for you are speaking another language.”
