Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia (D), who has labeled anyone that took part in the event of Jan. 6 “insurrectionists,” was arrested in a demonstration at the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

Johnson is the second member of Congress to be detained for taking part in an illegal demonstration this month.

Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio, a Democrat, was arrested last week after leading demonstrators inside her office building.

Johnson attended a Black Voters Matter-sponsored “Brothers Day of Action on Capitol Hill” rally before to the carefully organized demonstration. The arrests occurred when the group refused to disperse despite being urged to do so.

You can see the scene here, where Hank Johnson and a small group of demonstrators seeking an end to the filibuster and protection of voting rights had been ordered to disperse by Capitol Police.

In the end, ten persons were arrested Thursday by Capitol Police for “illegally demonstrating outside of the Hart Senate Office Building” and were charged with “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.”
