Following a free and enjoyable summer, it now appears that draconian rules will be back in effect when our children return to school this fall. The Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Tuesday that kids in grades between K-12 should wear masks, including those who have been vaccinated.
All schools should reopen to in-person learning in the autumn, according to CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, but with full safety practices in place, which now includes masks.
“CDC recommends that everyone in K-12 schools wear a mask indoors, including teachers, staff, students and visitors regardless of vaccination status,” she told reporters.

Joe Biden weighed in too saying, “Today, the CDC also reaffirmed that we can safely reopen schools this fall — full time…Masking students is inconvenient, I know, but will allow them to learn and be with their classmates with the best available protection.”
The CDC was not the only organization to provide guidance. Last week the American Academy of Pediatrics suggested that children aged 2 and up wear masks before returning to school last week.
Again, the news comes where a sizable portion of the country had returned to, at least some form of, normalcy and it’s unclear which states will or will not comply with the CDC and President Biden’s guidance.
We are quite certain there will be more contentious school board meetings though in the near future as school is mere weeks away in most states.
