In what was already a disastrous appearance for Joe Biden at CNN’s Town Hall event, the president further confused Americans when he uttered this sentence, “Crime is down, gun violence and murder rates are up. Guns. I’m the only guy that ever got passed legislation when I was a Senator to make sure we eliminated assault weapons.”

Wait, what? Not understanding that his comment makes no sense he continued with his typical push for high capacity magazines, saying “The idea that you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon… Whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle is ridiculous. I’m pushing to eliminate the sale of those things.”

Keep in mind this is from someone who has routinely confused weapons, even making up names for firearms at points that don’t exist. More importantly, it’s clear that Biden has never seen any of the actual and relevant data surrounding firearms and violence related to them because he would never speak a word again on the issue if he had.

While a new poll released by the Washington Post and ABC News demonstrated that American voters are concerned about rising crime rates, it should be understood that several reasons (not all) for the increase in crime are due to efforts by Democrats to defund police, unwillingness to arrest and prosecute destructive rioters that have plagued our streets for the past year in major cities, and a bigger influx in illegal immigrants than ever before.

Furthermore, in cities where murders have reached levels not seen in decades, particularly in locations like New York City, Washington, and Chicago, it needs to be noted that those metro areas have among the strictest gun laws in the country and that lawful gun owners are not the problem.

With over 390 million guns in circulation in the United States and billions of rounds of ammunition, if lawful gun owners were the problem…you would know it.
