Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox Business anchor Stuart Varney, says he’d consider replacing Mike Pence with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on a 2024 ticket.

Varney asked the former President if he would consider DeSantis as his number two guy, a notion that should seemingly register as a no-brainer.

“Sure I would,” Trump replied.

And while he appeared to be leaving his former Vice President out of the mix, Trump was sure to note there are several candidates who could adequately fill the role as well.

“But, you know, there are numerous people that are great,” he added. “I would certainly consider Ron.”

Trump Might Replace Pence With DeSantis in 2024

Trump’s comments come on the heels of similar thoughts following a speech to North Carolina Republicans on Saturday in which he hinted once again that he is considering running for President in 2024.

“I’m going to make a decision, it will be a decision where I think a lot of people are going to be very happy but I’m not really – prohibited because of all of the campaign finance rules and other things – from even discussing that very much,” he told Fox.

“But I will tell you that I’ll make a decision in the not too distant future, maybe sooner than people think,” he added.

“And I think they’re going to be very happy.”

In that interview, Trump declined to commit to having Pence on his ticket a second time but did paint him in a fairly positive light.

“Well, I don’t know. It’s really too soon to tell. But certainly, we had a very good relationship,” he explained.

“I was disappointed with Mike on one thing, as he understands and some other people understand, but, overall, I had a very good relationship with Mike, and he’s a very fine person and a fine man,” said Trump.

Trump’s biggest disappointment with Pence circles around the former Vice President’s unwillingness to challenge the certification of electoral college votes in 2020.

DeSantis is the Frontrunner

Mr. Trump has previously suggested he would strongly consider DeSantis as his running mate in 2024, saying the Florida Governor is a “friend of mine.”

“A lot of people like that — you know, I’m just saying what I read and what you read — they love that ticket,” Trump said in an interview in April. “But certainly, Ron would be considered. He’s a great guy.”

DeSantis has frequently found himself the top Republican symbol of liberty and freedom, contrasted by blue-state Democrats who have been the governors of oppression during the COVID pandemic.

Just weeks ago he announced that anyone charged for violating COVID restrictions in his state would be pardoned.

Prior to that, DeSantis took executive action to ban the use of “vaccine passports” by businesses or local governments and proudly proclaimed his state’s efforts in opening back up safely and responsibly without onerous and arbitrary rules to stifle citizens.

Even more recently, he signed a bill that would allow individuals to sue social media companies if they are censored and impose fines for Big Tech corporations should they ban elected officials from their platforms.

Perhaps an important matter even more so with Facebook extending Trump’s suspension from their site another two years.

DeSantis currently stands as the Republican frontrunner for the 2024 presidential nomination – should Donald Trump choose not to run. If not, being on the same ticket signals a bright future regardless.
