On Sunday, millions of Americans paid tribute to the courageous soldiers who not only served but lost their lives on D-Day. Commemorating the 77th anniversary, social media sites were bombarded with photos and lost stories of that fateful day. But while America will never forget, it appears one important person did – President Joe Biden. Although his VP and even the First Lady remembered the day, Biden let the memory casually slip his mind. But don’t worry, White House press secretary Jen Psaki was able to cover for him.

On Monday, Psaki was making her normal rounds of questioning from the press when she finally allowed Fox News reporter Peter Doocy to ask a question. Instead of the normal “favorite ice cream” questions, Psaki is used to, Doocy asked what Americans are wondering. “Presidents Bush, Obama, and Trump all commemorated D-Day anniversaries on D-Day, on the D-Day anniversary. Why didn’t President Biden?”

Putting her on the spot, Psaki tried her best to spin it that Biden has the utmost respect for the heroes who helped defeat the Nazis. She said, “Well, I can tell you that certainly … his value for the role that, the men who served on D-Day and the memory of them, the families who have kept their memories alive over the course of years on this day is something the President has spoke to many, many times in the past on, it’s close to his heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more we would have to say on it.”

To make matters worse, Biden wasn’t completely silent on the anniversary of D-Day. While he might have forgotten the memory of our soldiers, he was sure to tweet out a video discussing the Tulsa Race Massacre. And again, Biden’s own wife was sure to find the time to pay her respects.

While Biden appears more worried about getting votes than honoring America’s history and patriots, luckily, Republicans picked up the slack to show what true leadership looks like. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis tweeted, “We are free from the threat of fascism because of the sacrifice made by countless, courageous young men 77 years ago. On D-Day, the Greatest Generation cemented their legacy into the fabric of this country as the protectors of liberty and freedom for America and the world.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is dealing with a Southern Border crisis Biden helped create, also found the time to remember the ultimate price for freedom. “77 years ago, brave soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy to pursue liberty & defeat evil. Today we pay solemn tribute to the greatest military who fought to protect the freedom of the world.”

Although it might be easy for Biden and the Democrats to forget what our soldiers fight and die for every day, America will always cherish the brave and protect the innocent.
