Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) spoke out on Tuesday to say that Vice President Kamala Harris giving the “corrupted administration” in Guatemala more taxpayer money is “like giving whiskey and car keys to a teenager.”

“I think that the reason the vice president went to Guatemala and met with President [Alejandro] Giammattei is to offer him billions and billions of American taxpayer dollars to try to make his country better, and with no disrespect but that’s like giving whiskey and car keys to a teenager,” Kennedy said while appearing on “Fox & Friends.”

“President Giammattei is an authoritarian,” the Republican senator added. “He presides over a corrupted administration. They’re probably going to steal the money. Corruption is rampant.”

Not stopping there, Kennedy went on to allege that drug cartels are running Guatemala and that the primary reason the nation’s  president wants his people to move to America is that “they get a job and send money back home.” Kennedy then explained that this is a great asset to Guatemala’s GDP.

“Now, you don’t have to be Einstein’s cousin to figure all of this out,” he continued.

Kennedy then said that despite Harris saying that migrants should not enter the United States illegally, “the Biden administration believes in open borders. They may say otherwise, but most of the members of the Biden administration that I’ve talked to believe that vetting people at the border is racist.”

Despite the fact that Joe Biden tapped Harris to handle the border crisis weeks ago, she has yet to actually visit the border. She was called out for this on Tuesday by NBC anchor Lester Holt.

“Do you have plans to visit the border?” Holt asked, to which Harris responded, “We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.”

“You haven’t been to the border,” Holt corrected her.

“And I haven’t been to Europe,” Harris said with a laugh. “I don’t understand the point you’re making.”

Harris has received widespread backlash for this cringeworthy moment. Check it out for yourself below.
