Over the weekend, we reported that Christopher Sign, the reporter who broke the story of Bill Clinton secretly meeting with Loretta Lynch on a tarmac in Phoenix in 2016, had been found dead in an alleged suicide.

Now, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-FL) is under fire for a tweet she posted about Sign’s death in which she called out what she described as the “Clinton crime syndicate.”

“Why is it that so many who cross the Clinton Crime Syndicate end up dead?” she tweeted.

Sign is the reporter who broke the story of Clinton and Lynch secretly meeting on a tarmac back in 2016. It was believed that their discussion was about an ongoing investigation into whether Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State was illegal.

Both Clinton and Lynch tried to portray the conversation as just a friendly chat, but eyebrows were raised when just a few days later, the FBI chose not to bring criminal charges against Hillary, who was in the midst of her presidential campaign, according to Daily Mail.

The investigation was reopened less than two weeks before the 2016 presidential election after emails were found on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner, the former congressman and husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Then-FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to Congress in late October announcing that the probe had been reopened, and it was later closed just two days before the election. Hillary ended up losing the election to Donald Trump, with some believing that the timing of Comey’s letter to Congress may have cost her the presidency.

Sign, who was a former University of Alabama football player and veteran broadcast journalist with Birmingham’s ABC TV affiliate WBMA-LD, was found dead on Saturday morning in Hoover, Alabama. Police are investigating his death as a suicide, but few further details are available about his death at this time.

Hillary has previously opened up about the rumors of a “Clinton crime syndicate.”

“It’s hurtful. I’ll be really honest with you,” she once told The Independent of these theories. “It’s hurtful not just to me and my family, but to my friends and other people to know that this is not just false, but sometimes painfully false.”
