Ahead of Memorial Day services, Americans take time to honor the men and women in blue who sacrifice their lives on a daily basis for justice and order. Taking place during Police Week, on May 15, Peace Officers Memorial Day is designed to pay tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and honor the families that carry that heavy burden. Staying with tradition, the sitting President usually gives a statement thanking officers and their families, but that was broken when President Biden decided to blame police for the “distrust” they supposedly created.

Releasing his statement on Saturday, President Biden was sure to dodge the word police officer, making sure to not agitate his BLM voter base, and instead show “gratitude for the selfless public servants who wear the badge”. Keeping with the current Democratic narrative that police are murderers, Biden was sure to include a section about how law enforcement could do better.

The statement reads,

“This year, we also recognize that in many of our communities, especially Black and brown communities, there is a deep sense of distrust towards law enforcement; a distrust that has been exacerbated by the recent deaths of several Black and brown people at the hands of law enforcement. These deaths have resulted in a profound fear, trauma, pain, and exhaustion for many Black and brown Americans, and the resulting breakdown in trust between law enforcement and the communities they have sworn to protect and serve ultimately makes officers’ jobs harder and more dangerous as well.

In order to rebuild that trust, our State, local, and Federal Government and law enforcement agencies must protect constitutional rights, ensure accountability for misconduct, and embrace policing that reflects community values and ensures community safety. These approaches benefit those who wear the badge and those who count on their protection.”

Not only disrespectful but President Biden took a day designed to honor officers and instead used it as a platform to further the radical movement surrounding Black Lives Matter. While it isn’t the first time a President has called for police reform, even former President Obama included a statement honoring the courage it takes to be an officer.

It wasn’t until President Donald Trump that officers were shown the respect they deserve given the disdain shown towards them. In his 2020 statement, former President Trump said, “We must continue working toward a time when all people respect and understand the important work that law enforcement officers do. Unfortunately, our law enforcement officers do not always receive the respect they deserve.
