Portland Mayor Under Threat From His Former Allies

Mayor Ted Wheeler of Portland, a Democrat, is a hard guy to feel sorry for. When last year’s riots were at their peak in his city and stretches of West Coast downtowns were being occupied by socialist anarchist mobs, Wheeler went with the flow. Only after he started to feel personally threatened did he stop turning the other cheek.

He ignored a basic duty to his constituents, public safety. He allowed mobs to destroy private property. He encouraged vandalism and violence by going along with the left wing narrative that anything is justified for the socialist cause. Now his little friends are back and they are after him. It may just be a bluff by a punk. Or it could be something more.

Does he deserve it? Does Wheeler deserve to feel some of the fear he put others through by his political and moral cowardice? In a completely just universe, perhaps. But we don’t live there. We live in America, and here, many times we have to back the lesser of evils. As such, Ted Wheeler will likely be fine. The innocent people he abandoned when he gave in to the mobs? They will not be fine. They will go on paying, and paying…

FNC: “The Portland Police Department said it has been in contact with the FBI over a menacing video that included a masked individual with an altered voice issuing a threat against the city’s mayor Ted Wheeler. The Oregonian reported that the two-minute video appeared on Twitter earlier this week and the individual claims to be part of the city’s anti-fascist community.”

“Blood is already on your hands, Ted,” the person said. “The next time, it may just be your own…We are not just challenging the idea of having Ted as a mayor. We are challenging the idea of having mayors at all. We want abolition. Abolition is absolute.” Well, that’s a little over the top and thus probably harmless. Real threats aren’t advertised. They are merely carried out.

Wheeler recently vowed that he would take a dim view of those who want to trash the city in the name of protests and riots. He said he would “unmask” arsonists or vandals and said it was time to “hurt them a little bit.”

He also asked the public to rat out any members of the anarchist group who made the threats against him and he finally recognized the true nature of the groups he once appeased. “The city is beginning to recover, but self-described anarchists who engage in regular criminal destruction don’t want things to open up, to recover…They want to prevent us from doing the work of making a better Portland for everyone. They want to burn, they want to bash.” Just getting that, Ted? It’s about a year too late.
