On Monday’s episode of “The View,” Meghan McCain lashed out at liberals for making the process of coming out of lockdown worse, saying that they are “trafficking in fear porn.”

In a segment talking about America’s new mask guidelines, Meghan blasted the CDC for its messaging surrounding COVID-19, calling out director Rochelle Walensky’s “impending doom” comments a few weeks ago.

“I’m vaccinated, I’m back to life. I will not wear a mask unless I’m required to in a business or a place, obviously I will respect what businesses want,” McCain said. “But I think at this point it’s just irrational and emotional.”

Back in March, Walensky warned Americans that she had a recurring feeling” of “impending doom” with the rise in infections at the time. She’s since changed her tune and said that she’s “cautiously optimistic” as she updated mask guidelines for America.

“Impending doom sounds like the apocalypse,” McCain said. “If there was impending doom, then Florida and Texas would be hellscapes of death and we would have to have the National Guard coming in and saving people, and that’s not what’s happening. My family and friends in Arizona are living life normally and guess what? There’s not impending doom. There’s not fire and fury and hellscape everywhere. This is irrational. People are acting emotionally.”

Not stopping there, McCain then played a clip of MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, who said she’ll have to “re-wire” her thoughts to not be threatened by people who aren’t wearing masks under the CDC’s new guidance.

“The CDC guidance changed in one week and it was political,” McCain said. “I’m over the politicization, the emotional aspect of this. We have to go back to life, we have to go back to work.”

McCain’s cohost Whoopi Goldberg fired back by suggesting that the current vaccination rate could be contributing to people’s hesitancy with unmasking.

“People are uncomfortable and I don’t think it’s emotional … if the whole country had gotten the vaccination, I think a lot of people would be more comfortable,” she said.
