Joy Behar Praises Facebook For Upholding Trump Ban – Meghan McCain Shuts Her Down

On Wednesday morning’s episode of “The View,” Joy Behar praised Facebook for upholding the ban of former President Donald Trump from the platform, but her cohost Meghan McCain was not having any of it.

“You know, I think the First and Second Amendments both have limits,” Behar said as she talked about the ban. “Even though I love the First Amendment like everybody else does. But I think that he’s too much of a danger to have such a big platform. Let him go on Fox. He needs to be marginalized. Let him speak to the choir over there who appreciate him and agree with everything he says. He doesn’t need to contaminate the airwaves all over the world with Facebook. I think about if this was in the 1940s in Italy would we want Mussolini on the radio? No, we would not.”

Unsurprisingly, Behar’s liberal cohost Whoopi Goldberg agreed with her.

“I kind of feel like, listen, there are things you shouldn’t be able to put out there for people,” Goldberg  said. “Again, whatever the current thinking of running into a theater and yelling fire, there are some things you just shouldn’t be able to do. You shouldn’t be able to panic people or get people to go do your dirty work. You shouldn’t be able to have the power to do that.”

McCain, however, was not having any of it.

“This is a tough one,” McCain said. “I agreed with the initial ban, just because it incited violence, then I thought it would be reinstated.”

She went on to point out that since Trump has launched his own social media platform, he isn’t really being censored online.

“As a general rule, just in life period, I like to know what my enemies are thinking and saying and doing, because then you can be more prepared,” McCain added. “And just because he won’t be on Facebook — there’s a reason why places like 4chan and like the dark areas of the web exist and are very popular. It’s because they’re deplatformed other places. So just because we can’t see it in front of us, doesn’t mean it’s not there.”
